Our Staff at Cloverdale Childcare
Cindy has been the heart and soul of Cloverdale Childcare for seventeen and a half years, keeping the centre a happy bustling place for kids and staff. She’s trained at the School of Hard Knocks (lol) and has her ECE Assistant Certification.
When she’s not at the centre, Cindy loves cuddling babies, seeing movies, attending live theatre and watching her son play rugby.
Tanya is an ECEA at Cloverdale, and has previously worked at Doncaster School. She loves to spend time with her family, watch movies, be with friends, enjoy the great outdoors and travel!
Nikki has been an integral part of Cloverdale for the past 15 years. She has her Early Childhood Assistant certificate, and her Education Assistant certificate.
She juggles her work at Cloverdale with her young family, spending time with her boys Niko and Zander. She can be found busily running from hockey, to swimming and then off bike riding!
Murray has been at Cloverdale Childcare for 7 years, and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology for the University of Lethbridge, as well as a Bachelor of Education majoring in high school physical education from the University of Calgary. He currently is a Teaching Assistant at Cloverdale Traditional School where he has been for the last 3 years. He has also taught throughout Alberta and BC in elementary and high schools, a variety of subjects as a TOC.
He spent 15 years working in catering for events, prepping food and bartending. When he’s not working he loves to watch sports live on tv, go to music concerts & festivals, play the drums, support the Royal’s Hockey team and spend time with his wife and daughter.
Nozomi has her PhD in Child and Youth Care from UVIC, as well as her Masters of Education in Clinical and Educational Psychology and Special Education from UBC. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Psychology and Methods from Nara Women’s University in Japan.
In addition to working at Cloverdale Childcare, she is a Sessional Instructor at UVIC and teaches Japanese language classes to children. She has also worked as an elementary school teacher in Japan.
Nozomi loves taking long distance hikes, reading, knitting and cooking.
Junko has her BSc in Environmental Science with a minor in Biology from the Carelton University in Ottawa. She loves spending time in nature, especially hiking with her dog! She also enjoys meditation and travelling.
Stephanie is an ECE at Cloverdale, but before that she was a professional chef and baker in restaurants and catering for seven years.
Her favourite things to do are spending time with her husband and baby-to-be, as well as her two dogs. She loves traveling, camping and hosting big family dinners
Lisa is an ECE at Cloverdale, and has also worked in other preschools previously. When she’s not working she loves traveling, boating, swimming, hiking and spending her time with family and friends.
Wendy has lived in Canada for the past 9 years, after moving here with her husband and children from England. She had her own home daycare, and also worked at another preschool program, before joining us at Cloverdale. Wendy is an ECE and has been working with us for the past 3 years in preschool and daycare. She loves to kick back with a good fantasy book and a cup of tea!
Mack is currently attending UVIC to become a high school English teacher. When she’s not working or studying she enjoys travelling and hiking with her dog.
She looks forward to becoming an ESL teacher overseas.
Emma has her diploma in Community Child and Family Studies. She also works for Cloverdale Traditional School as an EA. When she’s not working, Emma loves walking her dog, painting pottery and spending time with friends and family.
Crystal is an ECE and SNE (Special Needs Educator). She has travelled around the world for six months in Up With People, teaching Diversity and Cross-Cultural Communication, as well as performing. She loves running and hiking!
Laikyn is currently at UVIC finishing her bachelors in humanities with a focus in Criminal Justice and English. She plans to continue on and get her post degree to become a high school teacher.
She has worked previously as a nanny and loves travelling. She looks forward to returning to the UK for a visit!
Natasha is in her 5th year as an undergraduate student studying Psychology. She can previously worked as a summer camp counsellor for BC Easter Seals Camps, a research assistant at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, a research coordinator at UVIC’s Centre for Autism Research and currently also works as a research assistant in the Child Development Laboratory at UVIC.
When she’s not working (or studying!) she can be found out running, or shopping for recipes that she loves to shop for but never cook!
Kristy is in her 3rd year of her Bachelor’s of Social Work at UVIC. Before working with kids, she worked as in the veterinary field. She loves hiking, hockey, baseball, camping, fishing, kayaking and doing photography.
Hailey is currently working on her ECE diploma. When she’s not doing school she loves spending time with family and friends, cooking and making a big mess in the kitchen!
Hailey is an animal lover and brings her dog with her everywhere she goes.
Hailey is currently taking ECE courses due to her love of children. Previously she worked administrative roles within government, insurance offices as well as real estate.
In addition to working at Cloverdale School, she is a freelance beauty and special effects makeup artist in Vancouver Island. She enjoys hiking, the music scene, travelling and camping. She currently spends a lot of time learning about and practicing mindfulness along with gratitude. She brings that into the classroom with the students as she believes it can really make a difference in their lives starting at a young age.
